Yes, the time has arrived to put away the summer sandals, flip-flops, other open-toe shoes and please don’t admit to owning a pair of Crocs. Don’t be a fashion don’t by trying to continue wearing them with socks, or in the case of the Crocs even if they have the faux sheep-wool like lining.  Peep-toe shoes are still fine and can be worn through the season plus they look fabulous with a bright trouser sock color or tight.  The same goes for any ultra summery clothing or accessories.  This is not the time to be showcasing that straw tote, tiny tank or shorts.  The season for that is over.  Embrace this fall season and move ahead.

Your style can be a major “ager” if you are not careful.  Here are some things to consider.

Don’t cling to a look that is past it’s prime.  If you haven’t changed your hairstyle since 1995, time for an update!  Women tend to stick with a style that looked great on them at a good time in their life.  Time to move on darlings, that perm and electric blue mascara is placing you in decades past.

Keep up to date on current fashions!  Now really, if your suit is fifteen years old, it is probably out of date!  At a recent networking group luncheon we noticed a woman who obviously took care in her appearance and thought she was quite stylish, but her aquamarine suit and lapel pin told us otherwise.  Just because it looked good when it was bought doesn’t mean it does today!  Her oversized shoulder pads were screaming in her ears “time to buy a new suit”!

Stay current with the season’s hottest new colors – just make sure you stay within your color palette.  Know what colors look good on you!

Dress your age.  Dressing in fashions too young for you actually ages you. It’s hard to accept some styles no longer work for you as you age, but you’ll be doing yourself a favor ditching that miniskirt and moving on to a flattering a-line number.

Don’t bare anything that needs to be covered.  As stated above this can be hard to accept, but why would you want to show off your liabilities.  Hide those and show off your best parts and you’ll alwyas look fabulous.

Looking to update your fall wardrobe?  One easy way to do this is to add an item of interest in ombre.  In case you’re not familiar, ombre is the gradual shading of one or more color.  Ombre is hot right now and you can find it everywhere.  We suggest an accent item like a large patent tote, beads or shoes.  This is a great way to add excitement to your fall wardrobe but be sure to stick with just one ombre item. 

Gray ombre peep-toe pumps looks fabulous with a colored tight and pencil skirt, or try that same look with fall weight ankle pants or capris.  A large patent tote also adds some unexpected punch to a classic trench.  If you like to take fashionable baby steps then a beaded ombre necklace is for you.  Try a fall colored one with a neutral sweater or button down blouse.  If you are more daring try an ombre skirt but be sure to tone down the rest of the outfit.  Keep in mind when investing in these fun pieces that this is just a trend, which might not be around for long.  Have fun experimenting!
